Archbishop Cordileone
Most Reverend Salvatore J. Cordileone is the ninth Archbishop of San Francisco. Appointed by Pope Benedict XVI on July 27, 2012, he was installed on the Feast of St. Francis, October 4, 2012. He previously served as Bishop of the Diocese of Oakland (2009-2012) and as an Auxiliary Bishop in his home diocese of San Diego (2002-2009), after an assignment to the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signature in Rome (1995-2002).
